Pallet trucks are divided into two categories: electric pallet trucks and internal combustion pallet trucks according to the power unit. Electric pallet trucks mostly use direct current (DC) series motors, and their mechanical characteristics can meet the working requirements of low-speed and high-torque pallet trucks. With the development of alternating current (AC) technology and the improvement of controllers, the use of AC motors has gradually increased. Compared with DC motors, AC motors are more convenient to use and maintain. The disadvantage is that the cost is higher than that of DC motors. In addition, the other advantages of the battery pallet truck are: simple operation, easy maintenance, smooth and noiseless operation, no exhaust gas, no air pollution, low operating costs, and a long service life of the vehicle. The disadvantages are: need charging room and charging equipment, long charging time, high requirements on the road surface, due to the limitation of battery capacity, small motor power, low climbing ability, slower running speed than internal combustion pallet trucks, high basic investment, and high lifting capacity smaller. The difference between a battery pallet truck and an internal combustion pallet truck is that in addition to the power device, the travel transmission mechanism and its operating device are also different, but the working device and hydraulic system, steering device, braking device, drive axle and steering of the pallet truck are different. Bridges and the like are identical or similar to each other. Like the internal combustion pallet truck, the straight-fork counterbalanced pallet truck is the most common form of construction in the battery pallet truck.

The basic structure of the electric pallet truck consists of the following parts: 1. Power plant: battery pack. The standard battery voltage is 24, 30, 48, 72V. 2. Frame: It is the frame of the pallet truck, which is welded with steel plate and section steel. Almost all components of a pallet jack are mounted on the frame. It is subjected to various loads during operation, so it should have sufficient strength and rigidity. 3. Transmission: Transmits the power of the electric motor to the drive wheels of the pallet jack. 4. Steering system: Controls the direction of travel of the pallet jack. 5. Braking system: to slow down and stop the pallet truck. 6. Motor and electrical system: The electrical system controls the motor through various components to achieve the start, stop, reversing and speed regulation of the pallet truck, and controls the oil pump motor or hydraulic steering oil pump motor. 7. Working device: It is a direct working mechanism for pallet trucks to perform loading and unloading operations. The forking and unloading of goods, lifting and stacking are all completed by the working device. 8. Hydraulic system: The fork is lifted and lowered by the hydraulic device, the mast is tilted forward and backward, and the hydraulically driven attachment is driven to achieve the purpose of loading and unloading cargo and hydraulic steering.
